There is no denying that the climate is changing, that is why NASA Global Climate Change has a page dedicated to "Vital Signs of the Planet," which includes statements from 18 different scientific societies, noting the reality and seriousness of the issue. There is an uncomfortable consensus among the brightest minds of the scientific community: the world's dependence on fossil fuels is warming the planet at an unprecedented rate, and with dire consequences.
The severity and frequency of storms are rapidly increasing, leaving some of the world's most vulnerable populations in even more precarious situations. Flooding and drought, storm surges, hurricanes, mudslides, tornadoes, earthquakes: humankind is under siege by a natural world thrown into disarray.
There has never been a more pivotal time to care about our planet and to put action behind our words-to begin the slow process of righting the injustices done to the earth and water, before it is too late.
